Trust and Identity Policy Development Toolkit for national research infrastructure now available
The Australian Access Federation (AAF) is pleased to share the new Trust and Identity Policy Development Toolkit for national research infrastructure. It offers a set of common policies enabling trusted and secure collaboration across multiple services and organisations.
In collaboration with fellow National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) funded facilities, the AAF has built on the learnings from the EU’s Authentication and Authorisation for Research Collaborations (AARC) organisation who has created a Policy Development Kit (AARC PDK) for research collaborations.
The AARC PDK toolkit has been carefully reviewed and adapted by the AAF Trust and Identity Pathfinder Policy Working Group (T&I PWG). The T&I PWG has reviewed the policies and considered whether the AARC PDK is appropriate for Australian research.
The AAF NRI Policy Development Toolkit (AAF NRI PDK) offers a structured approach for developing policies related to access, identity management, and trust within a collaborative research environment. It establishes a standard set of policies that will support easy access to data and compute and enable research greater collaboration across Australia.
The AAF NRI PDK is intended to support researchers, administrators, and policy-makers by addressing the specific needs of Australia’s research sector. It covers key areas such as data access controls, user identity verification, and trust frameworks, essential for effective research collaborations.
